Place your bets

Tomorrow we have our 20-week ultrasound. We find out the gender and hopefully get told that the baby is developing normally.

When my mother found out she was pregnant 31 years ago, the doctor essentially said, "Great! See you again when you're in labor!" Today, the doctor wants to see me every month in the beginning, then every two weeks, then every week.

At first I thought all the attention was great. But I've noticed that when I don't have an appointment, I don't worry. As soon as I have an appointment coming up, I start thinking about all the things they need to test for, all the bad "what ifs", and I start to worry. I really believe if I didn't have another appointment between now and labor, I would be worry-free. Modern medicine is great, but sometimes we just know a little too much.

As for the gender, my husband and I have five girl names we both love. We have no boy names. In fact, every boy name we have found, we have grown to hate within minutes. Therefore, we are both convinced that we are having a boy. Place your own guesses in the comments.
